Each year, we share how God is using CBL to impact His kingdom. We are honored to bring the Bible to pastors, missionaries, and other Christian leaders for their healing and care. We believe with conviction that the Bible changes lives, and our mission is to bring Scripture to the lives of ministry leaders. And then the Lord can use those ministry leaders to impact others!

We are humbled and grateful that God allows us to assist ministers and ministry marriages in this important way. As you read the testimony below, you’ll see how one pastor and his wife were so encouraged by their time with a CBL counselor that they chose to raise support so that he could join the CBL team. As you read their story, we invite you to consider partnering with us during our year-end campaign to help us care for more pastors like John.

Like John, many ministers need vital soul care. When their souls are weary and struggling, it negatively affects the way they lead their churches. Your support enables us to offer biblical counseling and encouragement to pastors, missionaries, and seminary students.

It’s an honor to care for pastors like John:

• “I’ve been in ministry for over 15 years, and my wife and I have served in the same church for nine of those. Over time, the demands of ministry, raising young kids, and trying to live beyond the church’s walls wore us down, leading me into a deep season of despair that affected my family. In 2021, I faced severe depression. Christian counseling brought some relief, but the pressures quickly returned. After years of nonstop busyness, I was granted a sabbatical in 2024—a much-needed gift of space to breathe, rediscover my love for the Lord, and process ministry’s challenges.

   

  During that time, CBL became vital in my healing. My wife and I completed a detailed assessment of our spiritual, marital, and ministry health and, with the help of our counselors, identified areas for growth. We committed to further biblical counseling sessions to pursue intentional accountability and maturity. One of the greatest lessons I learned was how easy it was to confuse my calling with my identity—to think God’s love depended on what I did, rather than on who I was in Christ. As I nearly burned out and felt isolated, I found it hard to process my struggles because I felt like I was supposed to have it all together.

   

  CBL provided the gospel-centered safe place I needed. They helped renew my spiritual health, remind me of my identity in Christ, and restore my joy in ministry. Now, I serve part-time as CBL’s Organizational Advancement Manager because I deeply believe in their mission to help leaders get—and stay—healthy so they can lead from grace, not exhaustion.”
