2014 will be a big year for the Scott family. This year we will have served with FamilyLife one year longer than we served the Archbold Evangelical Church (08/1997-06/2005) in Archbold, Ohio. When we left AEC in June of 2005 we were two months short of the eight year mark. This October we will conclude our ninth year with FamilyLife. It’s hard to believe.
While we were in Ohio in December, we had an opportunity to think back on the student ministry at AEC. Those memories are some of the greatest we have in our nearly seventeen years of ministry. We enjoy returning to AEC to connect with dear friends we have there. Our girls often get tired of waiting for us to leave the church after service as we visit. It was those years in ministry where the foundation was shaped for our ministry today. It was there that Tom’s ability to lead was challenged and often failed amidst successes.
It was there that our heart for hospitality was developed. It was there we learned the importance of balancing ministry at home and ministry at church. It was there that we fell in love with Christ’s Bride, the local church, “the pillar and buttress of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). It was there that our passion for marriage was sparked, especially ministry marriages.
